About Famous Files

Read the files. Skip the hype.

What this site is

Famous Files is an independent educational project that summarizes declassified records and public documents about well-known people and explains what they actually show, in plain English. The library covers musicians, Hollywood figures, writers, athletes, political figures, and other public names.

Where the information comes from

Every profile is built from primary sources — mainly the FBI Vault and other government archives — and each page links directly to the original records so you can read them yourself. We summarize and add context; we don't invent.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the FBI or any government agency. We are not a news outlet, gossip site, or conspiracy archive. An FBI file is not proof of guilt, and we say so on every page.

How we work

Each profile includes a Record Snapshot (source, record type, years covered), the story in plain language, common misconceptions, and answers to frequent questions. Our sourcing and editorial standards are explained on the Methodology page.
